Genesis 28-29, Psalm 33, Matthew 18

You know really irks me, is how people look at the Old Testament and note God as a wrathful God that smites (Sodom and Gomorrah) and destroys (Flood) and orders wars - and say the New Testament is all about love and forgiveness.
When I look at the Old and New Testament, I see the same character of God.
Loving, Forgiving, and Just.
God is the same. He doesn’t change.
As I came across Genesis 29:31 I was able to note how God touch the heart of Leah without her even praying about her affliction (being unloved). Well, maybe she did pray, but we are not told about it in the passages.
It says “The LORD saw that Leah was unloved, He opened her womb…”.

To me, that is so encouraging to know that God is looking down upon us and has our thoughts, minds, and condition as His concerned. God had compassion on Leah. Jacob did nothing wrong; Jacob was deceived by Laban and given Leah instead of Rachel. Laban, put his daughter in a relationship where she would be a distant second to none. It was his fault she was “unloved.”

God understood this. This is why God didn’t get angry at Jacob, who was in the right (as opposed to Laban). Instead, He gave Leah a little help, to find favor in Jacobs sight.

To me, it’s so wonderful to know God looks out for us like this.
Living in Alpha Gamma Omega, Christ-Centered Fraternity at UCLA taught me a lot of things. Importantly, it allowed me to have a taste of live-daily Christian community like the early Christians had when the Church was a baby.

Lots of things come up in that time. One of them, Dealing with a sinning brother  is of high importance especially in a setting where it is so easy to stumble;a college-fraternity.

Matthew 18:15-20 is beautiful in addressing said issue. Perfect. From Christ Himself. Furthermore, 21-35 show us how to deal with forgiveness from God and among one another.
Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
